Christ Tile

Happy Friday!
It has been a emotional and exhausting week our house.
I will get more into it next week, but today I want to celebrate
that we made it through the week.

Last Sunday I was in charge of teaching the lesson for the
12-18 year old girls at church.
My lesson was on the Last Supper and the Sacrament.

I wanted to do something really special, so they will always
remember how important the Sacrament is.

I got in touch with one of my favorite people ever,
Karen, and happens to have a wonderful business,
Karen's Vinyl Village

I emailed Karen about possibly getting a vinyl image of Christ.
After I typed the words in the email I wondered if it would even look like Christ.
When she emailed me back she showed me a picture, and it was perfect.

Karen did the Christ picture,
and I did the words with my Cricut.
The tile is 4 x 4.

I think it turned out really well,
and all the girls really appreciated it.

Family Established Sign

Here is another quick and easy vinyl project.

I had wanted one of these signs since we got married,
and since I can now cut vinyl I did it myself.

When I was looking online for tutorials about cutting vinyl I came across a great idea about how to make sure that the lines are straight.

Use the paper that comes in the frame, measure and draw the lines on that paper.
Then you put the paper back in the frame.
When you place the vinyl on the glass just put it on the line.
So easy, and then if you are like me and constantly worry about it being straight,
you know it is already perfect.

FAMILY wall hanging

I actually started this project a few months ago, and like many projects I start,
I never quite finished it.

I am determined to be better at completing projects, not just doing projects.
So no better place to start than something I never finished!

It is hard to believe that this cute sign was once this....

A little too country for my taste, but great potential.
I got it at Goodwill for something like $2.00.

Let me tell you those red apples were a chore to cover up, but I am strong believer that spray paint can fix just about anything.

I painted the underside aqua, and then decided I wanted it red, so I painted over it.
Then I decided to try and see if I could gently sand off the red on the border, so the aqua would peek through.

Success!

Then I used my Cricut to cut out "Family" with different coordinating red and aqua papers.
Then I used turquoise vinyl for the saying at the bottom.

I was all done and ready to hang it up when I turned it over and ran into a problem.

Oops!
The hangers are on the bottom!

That is why I never finished this project.
So today I glued a ribbon to the back so I could finally hang it.

Project complete, finally!
A prefect home about the pantry door.
More aqua and red, I am addicted to that color combination

A special thanks to my cute assistant who was "helping" by turning the lights off and on when I was trying to take pictures.

Vinyl Labeled Canisters

Completely unnecessary, but so completely adorable.
My husband joked that he often gets the flour and sugar mixed up,
thank goodness I labeled them for him.

I got these canisters when we were first married, and I L-O-V-E them.
But they were in need of a little face lift.
Our newest move gave me the opportunity to empty and wash them.

Once again I used my Cricut to cut the letters, and in 5 minutes my kitchen is
a whole lot cuter!

4th of July T-Shirt

Of course I had to make my little guy a T-shirt to sport for our Independence Day festivities.

I was inspired by the votives I made earlier.
I was planning on doing the aplique in blue, but my Husband thought red would look best, he was right.

I had a hard time getting my model to stand still, he wanted to play in the rain.

Here is a close up..

What else can I put that silhouette on???

Father's Day Frame

Last year at Michael's I saw these very cute Dad Picture frames.
By the time remembered my coupon they were all sold out.
I saw them yesterday and remembered how much I loved them last year.
Then I looked closer and noticed how cheap the frame was.
And they wanted $ 20 for it!

So I decided to make one myself, for way cheaper!
I bought mat board with my coupon, $2.50
It is near the poster board, in 20x30 sheets.
I had the frame, and so much cuter than the one at the store.

Want to make one yourself?
Come along, I'll show you how.

Here is the original frame.
Oh, when we were young and in love!

I took out the mat from the fame and traced it on my piece of mat board.

I cut out my letters with my Cricut and laid them on my mat.
If you don't have a Cricut you could print out the letters and cut them out yourself.

I laid the old mat down on top, since it happened to have 3 spaces, just to make sure the spacing was good.

Then I placed small pieces of painters tape on the back of the letters.

After I places the letters back on I used the ruler to makes sure the letters were straight.

Then trace around the letters with your Exacto/craft knife.
The mat board is fairly hard to cut so after I went around the letters in some places I had to go back and re-cut.
Be careful and go slow around the corners.

Also, you MUST use a craft mat or cardboard under while you cut.
I don't want to be responsible for ruining your kitchen table

Then pop out the pieces like a puzzle.

That's it! So easy.
Now add your favorite pictures.

Just think of all the wonderful words you could do.
And you can because that $2.50 bought you a huge piece of mat board!

Independence Day Votives

Independence Day is just around the corner!
My friend Leslie loves to remind people that saying 4th of July is like referring
to Christmas as 25th of December.

Anyway, as I was packing for our current move, yes our 7th move in 4 years I found these lonely little votives. They are actually left over from our wedding reception. The ironic part is we had an outdoor reception in June. The reception was from 6-9, so it never got dark enough to see the candles, and I don't think they ever got lit.

So I took these sad and slightly pathetic looking votives and turned them into something wonderful.
Together with my Cricut and a little vinyl we took these votives from this....

To these....

They turned out sooo cute, and I couldn't be happier with them.
It seriously took me about 20 minutes.

I used A Child's Year cartridge, which is deffinetly my favorite cartridge.
Aren't those silhouettes so sweet!

Just be sure to clean off the glass with rubbing alcohol before you start.
You want to have a clean surface for the vinyl to stick to.

Can you see these all over the table of your Independence Day celebration?
